Optimizing Railway Operations: DX-1200 Powers a European Railway Trajectory Monitoring System

Balancing operational safety and efficiency is a crucial consideration as railway transportation systems get smarter. Railway trajectory monitoring systems are one way that railways are increasing safety. This system integrates real-time positioning, data monitoring, and trajectory analysis technologies to assist drivers in making more accurate driving decisions and adjustments, further improving overall operational efficiency.

Cincoze’s client, a world-renowned railway system integrator, deployed hundreds of Cincoze DX-1200 high-performance, compact embedded computers as the computing core for a railway trajectory monitoring system in Europe. Thanks to its excellent processing performance and rail-specific design elements, it provided the best driving solution through real-time data analytics and laid the data foundation for predictive maintenance, reducing equipment wear and maintenance costs.

Product Requirements

Optimizing Railway Operations: DX-1200 Powers a European Railway Trajectory Monitoring System, Product Requirements

Real-time computation and judgment

The trajectory monitoring system needs to record the train’s speed, acceleration/deceleration behavior, wheel rotation angle, body shaking and vibration, and optimize driver operations through real-time analysis. The embedded computer must have powerful computing performance to quickly integrate and analyze data from various sensors and cameras.

Satellite positioning and data reception

In addition to supporting satellite positioning, the trajectory monitoring system must integrate cameras and multiple sensors, including speed sensors, wheel encoders, and inclination sensors, to accurately determine the train’s operating status and dynamic changes, and to serve as a basis for predictive maintenance and abnormal warnings.

Compliance with railway standards

To meet regulatory requirements, electronic equipment installed on trains must comply with the EN 50121-3-2 railway EMC standard to be eligible for project consideration.

Why Cincoze?

Optimizing Railway Operations: DX-1200 Powers a European Railway Trajectory Monitoring System, Why Cincoze?

Powerful performance and railway-specific I/O

The DX-1200 supports an Intel® Core™ processor up to 65W, offering ample computing performance for high-speed data and image analysis and AI recognition applications. The DX-1200 supports multiple sensors and cameras through rich native I/O and a flexible expansion design to allow additional interfaces such as LAN, USB, COM, and DIO. Railway-specific M12 A-code and X-code LAN connectors enhance connection stability in high-vibration environments.

Rugged design overcomes harsh challenges

Railway transportation applications face multiple challenges such as continuous vibration during travel, electrostatic interference caused by rail friction, high temperatures in installation cabinets, and unstable power input, and must support long-term continuous operation. The DX-1200 features a rugged design with wide temperature (-40°C - 70°C) and wide voltage (9–48V) support, fanless and cable-less design, and electrostatic discharge (ESD) protection, ensuring stable and reliable 24/7 operation in harsh environments.

High reliability for comprehensive safety

The DX-1200's excellent performance in EMC, shock and vibration resistance, fire resistance, and overall safety were important factors in its selection for the project. It not only complies with the EN 50155 EMC standard (EN 50121-3-2) and the Simulated Long Life Test but also passed the EN 45545-2 railway fire protection standard, US military standard MIL-STD-810G shock and vibration test, and UL safety certification, making it a reliable solution for railway transportation applications.
