Cincoze CS-115 / P1101 Increases Working Efficiency for Highway Toll Collection Terminals

Efficient and high-quality infrastructure is the backbone of modern transportation. Highways must provide a seamless commute through a smooth traffic flow and convenient toll collection methods for commercial and privately owned vehicles. For highway operators, it is crucial to deploy an effective and adequate infrastructure that combines technology and automation to enhance operations by analyzing collected data.

With the increasing number of highway toll stations and the demands of supporting reliable long-term operation, a European systems integrator of toll collection and ticketing systems for public transportation merged Cincoze's CS-115 / P1101 panel PCs into their automatic toll collection terminals. The toll collection system is a convenient self-service terminal through which drivers can easily choose their payment methods via the touch screen. They selected Cincoze’s panel PC as it provides a rugged, sunlight-readable solution for outdoor toll terminal applications. These outdoor applications generally operate 24/7 and are exposed to severe weather conditions.

Customer's Requirements

High Brightness and Multi-touch Screen

The systems integrator mounts panel PCs into toll collection terminals. The highway operator requires the panel PCs to be sunlight readable with high brightness for outdoor deployment. In addition, the quick response multi-touch projective capacitive (PCAP) LCD monitor is required to provide a smooth user experience.

Robustness and Easy Maintenance

Outdoor applications are affected by various harsh weather conditions such as rain, snow, ice, dust, debris, and extreme temperatures. The touch screens must be scratch-resistant to endure heavy use. Additionally, the PCs must be fanless and easy to maintain to reduce maintenance costs.

Versatility and Real-time Wireless Connectivity

The PCs in the toll collection terminals must connect to other devices such as card readers for swiping credit cards and fuel cards and thermal printers for printing receipts. Wi-Fi/cellular wireless data connection is required to upload data to the control room or the cloud.

Why Cincoze?

Ultra-High Brightness up to 1,600 Nits

Cincoze’s sunlight-readable industrial panel PCs are available from 8" to 19" with PCAP touch displays and a high-brightness 1,600 nits backlight that provides sufficient screen brightness for good image quality even under outdoor sunlight.

Industrial Rugged Design & CDS Technology

Cincoze’s fanless industrial panel PCs can withstand the rigors of harsh environments and feature a die-cast aluminum housing with outstanding corrosion resistance, strength, and hardness. The super-hard 7H touch surface is scratch-resistant and tough enough to withstand heavy impacts. The PCs can endure a temperature range of -20°C to 70°C, and the front panel is waterproof and dustproof with an IP65 rating. In addition, through Cincoze's patented Convertible Display System (CDS), it is easy to flexibly replace the display or computer modules, allowing for straightforward maintenance and upgrades.

Rich I/O and Modular Expansion

The Intel® Atom® or Pentium® based CS-115 / P1101 natively covers rich I/O interfaces, including 2x Intel GbE LAN, 4x USB 3.0, 4x COM, and 8x Isolated DIO, which allows for connecting a monitoring camera and other peripherals, and can be triggered to lift and lower barriers to let vehicles pass through. Through 2x full-size Mini-PCIe expansions, the PC can manage the Wi-Fi/cellular wireless connection. Moreover, users can install exclusive CFM modules to add Power over Ethernet (PoE) for their specific applications.

Cincoze also offers the P2000 series, based on Intel® Core™ U-series processors, which handles intensive computing tasks and has one PCI/PCIe slot. GPU cards can be added to deploy vehicle identification for AI analysis. The operator can conduct various vehicle analyses for operation management to achieve the goals of the smart toll system.
