Je nach Modell unterstützt die Serie bis zu 2× PCI/PCIe-Erweiterungssteckplätze (DS-1502) für I/O-, Bildverarbeitungs-, Datenerfassungs- und Motion-Control-Karten oder eine einzelne 130-W-GPU-Karte (111 × 235 mm). Die patentierte, verstellbare Kartenhalterung fixiert Erweiterungskarten selbst in hochvibrationsbelasteten Umgebungen und gewährleistet einen langfristig stabilen Betrieb.

Die Embedded-Computer der DS-1500-Serie sind mit Schutzfunktionen in Industriequalität ausgestattet: erweiterter Temperaturbereich (-40 °C bis 60 °C), weiter Eingangsspannungsbereich (9–48 VDC), sowie Schutz vor Überspannung, Überstrom und ESD. Die Serie erfüllt den US-Militärstandard für Schock- und Vibrationsfestigkeit (MIL-STD-810H) sowie Bahnnormen für EMV (EN 50121-3-2) und Brandschutz (EN 45545-2).
